Meet Katie
OWNER
Meet Katie Andersen—a mom of five, including a remarkable child with special needs, an owner of a thriving therapy practice, and a billing wizard with a contagious laugh and a heart as big as her family. Katie grew up in the therapy world (her mom’s a therapist, so “empathy” was basically a household rule) and now she’s a champion for therapists everywhere.
Katie’s story is one of heart and hustle. Katie believes that life is powerfully lived when we choose “and.” As a business owner and a client, a professional and a friend. “And” allows Katie to courageously live an integrated life—where work and heart go hand in hand. “And” connects every part of her life. A head for solutions and a heart for service.
Her strength is a rare combination of business savvy and a true servant’s heart. Professionally, Katie uniquely combines firsthand therapy practice ownership experience with cutting-edge billing expertise—making her the rare expert who understands both sides of the business. Katie truly understands what it takes to keep a therapy practice thriving and let the therapists ditch the paperwork and focus on helping people. Katie’s heart sings knowing she is “helping those who help others” and being a steady professional anchor for therapists. With 16 year of experience wrangling insurance paperwork and solving billing puzzles, Katie finds joy in turning complex insurance puzzles into client wins, all while treating every clinician’s practice like her own. She prides herself on being a creative, solution seeking problem solver who stays ahead of every insurance change while the In Your Corner team handles every last claim and code with precision and care.
Personally, Katie’s warmth and love for service shine everywhere: she’s the proud recipient of the Bishop Dudley Award from Dakota Wesleyan University, the school’s highest honor, awarded to those who make a genuine difference through service and leadership. For Katie, empowering others isn’t just a job—it’s a calling. Always has been. When Katie isn’t clicking on claims she can be found loving a good adventure, an engaging book, a baby’s laugh, time with her family, singing in the South Dakota Symphony Choir, and living life with her heart wide open.

Ashley Laird infuses service with sparkle—just ask anyone who’s crossed paths with her at In Your Corner Insurance Billing or out and about in her many roles in Sioux Falls.
The importance of relationships are woven through every element of Ashley’s life. Whether she’s guiding therapists through the insurance maze, helping her four children, stepping onto the community theatre stage or supporting expectant moms as a trained doula—Ashley’s passion is service in all forms.
On stage Ashley’s favorite role has been in bringing Mrs. Cratchit to life in a A Christmas Carol. The timeless tale that celebrates how living authentically means caring for others. The theatre is more than performance for Ashley. It’s a mirror for life. Where the best performances are the results of doing great work together with great people. A place where the spirits of service and camaraderie flourishes among cast and crew. It’s how Ashley lives her values at home and at work.
With Ashley on the team, clients are never alone in the journey. She believes in walking alongside every client and colleague, with the unyielding belief that she succeeds when they succeed. With her ever present sparkle flowing through all she does, Ashley is not just a pillar of the In Your Corner Insurance Billing team, but a beloved presence in every circle she joins and every role she plays.
Meet Ruthanne
ACCOUNT SPECIALIST
Pull up a seat and meet Ruthanne Potts—the heart and hospitality hero of In Your Corner Insurance Billing, and a mom to four fabulous kids who guarantee there’s never a dull moment at home.
Growing up in a military family taught Ruthanne that belonging isn’t about a zip code. She learned early on to be courageous toward challenges and how to serve a purpose—and the person beside you.
Ruthanne has mastered the art of being home wherever life takes her. Her “citizen of the everywhere” spirit means she welcomes everyone with open arms, celebrating the idea that home is who you’re with and where you are. Hospitality is something she carries inside her. It’s how she meets the world with a big, wholehearted hug—whether you’re a therapists, client, coworker, or her own lively quartet of kids.
Ruthanne sees insurance billing as an opportunity to host the world’s greatest online gathering, even if her “guests” come with claim numbers instead of RSVP cards.
Every claim she touches represents a brave person on a journey toward wellness. She imagines these clients as attendees at a warm, welcoming event—where therapists are the gracious hosts and she’s behind the scenes with a smile. She’s honored to support the moments of growth and transformation that help clients find hope or create it.
Creativity and change is woven through all she does. Whether she’s decoding insurance systems, studying Positive Psychology at ASU, cooking up creative dishes, performing and composing on her guitar and piano, she is always asking herself, “how can I make this a little brighter, a little better, a little kinder?”
